Are dogs allowed in Stockholm cafés and restaurants?
Sweden has no national ban on dogs in cafés or restaurants — each venue decides. In practice, outdoor terraces are almost always fine, cellar restaurants and neighborhood bistros usually welcome dogs inside, and fine dining tends not to. When in doubt, ask at the door.
Do I need to keep my dog on a leash?
Yes. From March 1 to August 20 dogs must be leashed in all Swedish nature areas to protect wildlife. In Stockholm city parks, leashes are required year-round unless you're inside a fenced dog area (hundrastgård).
Can I bring my dog on the SL public transport?
Yes. Dogs travel free on Stockholm's SL network (metro, buses, commuter trains, trams). Small dogs can be carried; larger dogs should be leashed and boarded through the rear doors on buses. During rush hour, use judgement — smaller carriages get very full.
What does 'verified' mean on Tassa In?
A verified place has been visited with a dog by someone on the team or a trusted contributor. Staff genuinely welcomed the dog, there was a comfortable spot to settle, and water was offered without asking. Verified places show a marked badge on the map.
Where are the best dog parks in Stockholm?
Tantolunden and Vitabergsparken on Södermalm, Humlegården on Östermalm, Vasaparken (with a dedicated fenced dog area) in Vasastan, and Rålambshovsparken on Kungsholmen. Djurgården is the biggest green space in the city and worth a Sunday.
